Jesus said of himself: “For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.” (Luke 19:10)
If we are to be Christian (Christ-like) we are to be about the same things Jesus was about. In fact, look what Jesus tells his followers before He went back to heaven in Luke 24: 46-48 “Thus it is written, that the Christ should suffer and on the third day rise from the dead, and that repentance and forgiveness of sins should be proclaimed in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things.”
We have been given only one mission by Jesus while here on Earth. The Church has traditionally called it the Great Commission. It is found in Matthew 28:19 when Jesus told his followers: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.” What’s Our Mission? To Seek and Save the Lost!
